Dr. Ferguson offers clinical supervision for LPA's and LCMHC's in the state of NC. It is an absolute joy to be able to be a part of a colleague's career journey! There is often a waiting list for supervision clients so please plan early if possible. Ideal candidates are those who have similar clinical interests and/or theoretical orientations, or those who have a similar clinical specialty areas, although generalist supervision can be provided as well. Support for one's own interests and helping you to build your unique niche is always a part of any supervision relationship.
Dr. Ferguson ascribes to the Integrative Developmental Model of Supervision (Stoltenberg & McNeil, 1998, 2009; McNeil & Stoltenberg, 2016), which is based on the premise that the nature of the supervision relationship changes over time in response to changing supervisee needs at various stages of career development. Therefore, supervision style and interventions are tailored to the developmental needs of the supervisee, and supervision plans are individualized as such. Early career therapists can expect a lot of support, reading recommendations and specific intervention psychoeducation and practice during supervision sessions. On the other hand, seasoned LPA's in need of fulfilling their supervision requirements can expect a collegial atmosphere of support and mutual brainstorming. Open discussion of preferred supervision style and identification of supervision goals is always a part of initial supervision sessions.
